Stan “The Man” Musial epitomizes the “Cardinal Way” in his professional and personal life and was Major League’s Baseball’s “Perfect Warrior and Knight.” Stan played for the St. Louis Cardinals during his entire illustrious career, made 24 All-Star game appearances for the National League, and won the National League Most Valuable Player 3 times. “The Man” was a Three Time World Series Champion, an inaugural inductee into the St. Louis Cardinals Hall of Fame, a first-ballot Major League Baseball Hall of Famer and considered by most to be one of the most consistent hitters in baseball history.
In addition to his unbelievable MLB career, Stan Musial may have been a better gentleman and human. Stan Musial was married to his wife, Lillian “Lil” Labash, for almost 72 years before her untimely passing and raised four wonderful children, Stan Musial served in the Navy during World War II and received the Navy Memorial‘s Lone Sailor Award, which honors Navy veterans who have excelled in civilian life. In addition to his baseball playing career, he led the St. Louis Cardinals to a World Series Championship as General Manager but retired to support his business interest after the unexpected death of his business partner. Stan Musial also acted a physical fitness adviser to the President of the United States and promoted better fitness among American citizens. He was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom before his death, the highest award given to an American civilian.
